We are a family owned and family operated traditional “mom and pop” business. We are the new owners of what was formerly John and Suz’s Motel and diner. We purchased our business in January 2017. After some redecorating and remodeling, we opened The Scheppard’s Hook Family Diner, Motel & Bait Shop. The business is owned by Lenore and Ed Scheppard.

Ed was born and raised on South Sandy Pond. After high school he went to guide school in Montana for a year. Ed spent his entire career working commercial construction. Ed is an avid hunter and fisherman of the pan fry fish caught locally. Lenore has spent her life raising her children. She was fortunate to be able to be a stay at home mom. She volunteered in the community around her previous home of Mannsville during all the years she resided there. She has an associate degree from Jefferson Community College and a bachelors from SUNY Oswego. Ed and Lenore greatly enjoy gardening. Their love for the outdoors is evident when you visit the diner. Our favorite part of our experience here has been all the wonderful people we have been able to meet and the new friends we’ve been blessed to make. We have enjoyed having our family make your family feel at home with quality food at reasonable prices.

We have planned and chosen our food ingredients based heavily on local foods. Our real maple syrup comes from just around the corner. All of our bread except the gluten free is baked fresh by Mr. Rick’s bakery in Watertown Center, NY. We chose to carry Perry’s soft custard and hard ice cream because, not only is it the best tasting, but it is a local in state product. We carry as many local products as possible including but not limited to Kraft and McAdam cheeses, Gianelli sausage, and Hoffman’s Hot dogs. It is extremely important that we support local products to keep jobs local and help the local economy.

Thank you for visiting our page and our business. We look forward to many happy years here.
